Berceau Industries LLC ("Berceau Industries," "we," "our," or "us") operates the Gideon mobile application (available on iOS and Android), the Gideon web application, and the website located at berceauindustries.com (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, store, and protect your personal information when you access or use the Service.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in an open and transparent manner. By creating an account, downloading our application, or otherwise accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy. We collect information that you voluntarily provide when you register for, access, or use the Service:

  • Account Registration Data: Your name, email address, and password (stored in hashed form). If you choose to register via a third-party authentication provider (such as Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In), we receive your name and email address from that provider.
  • Profile Information: Your preferred language, educational level, subjects of interest, examination goals, and any other optional profile details you choose to provide.
  • Study and Learning Data: Questions you answer, responses you provide, scores, accuracy rates, review schedules, mastery levels, stability metrics, and study session timestamps.
  • User-Generated Content: Any custom study materials, notes, or content you create within the Service.
  • Communications: Information you provide when you contact us for support, submit feedback, or otherwise correspond with us.
  • Payment Information: If you purchase a subscription, your payment is processed by Apple (App Store), Google (Play Store), or Stripe. We do not directly collect, store, or process your credit card number or banking details.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you access or use the Service, we automatically collect certain information:

  • Usage Data: Features accessed, screens viewed, session duration, frequency of use, study patterns, and interaction sequences.
  • Device Information: Device type, model, operating system and version, unique device identifiers, screen resolution, language settings, and time zone.
  • Network Information: IP address, connection type, and general geographic location derived from IP address (city-level, not precise location).
  • Crash and Performance Data: Crash logs, error reports, application performance metrics, and diagnostic data.

2.3 Information from Third-Party Sources

  • Authentication Providers: If you sign in using Apple, Google, or another third-party authentication service, we receive your name, email address, and a unique identifier.
  • App Store Platforms: Apple App Store and Google Play Store may provide us with aggregated or anonymized analytics data.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Providing the Service: To operate, deliver, and maintain the core functionality of Gideon, including adaptive spaced repetition scheduling, progress tracking, and mastery assessment.
  • Personalization: To tailor the learning experience to your individual needs.
  • Communication: To send transactional communications, respond to support inquiries, and with your consent, send study reminders.
  • Analytics and Improvement: To understand how users interact with the Service and optimize performance.
  • Safety and Security: To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
  • Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws and regulations.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. How We Share Your Information

We share your information only with service providers who perform services on our behalf:

  • Supabase (authentication and database hosting)
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) (application hosting and content delivery)
  • Stripe (payment processing on web)
  • Apple (app distribution and payments on iOS)
  • Google (app distribution and payments on Android)
  • Expo / EAS (app builds and updates)

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of Berceau Industries and its users.

5. Data Storage, Security, and Retention

Your data is stored on secure servers hosted in the United States. Data is encrypted in transit using TLS and encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption or equivalent.

  • Account and study data: Retained for the duration of your active account. Upon account deletion, permanently deleted within 30 days.
  • Crash and performance logs: Retained for up to 90 days.
  • Analytics data: Aggregated and anonymized analytics may be retained indefinitely for product improvement.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data
  • Delete your account and associated personal data
  • Export your study data in a portable format
  • Opt out of non-essential push notifications

7. Children's Privacy

Your personal information may be transferred to and processed in the United States. When we transfer personal data from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.
